WASSENAAR.TIPS Prinsjesdag 3e dinsdag van september. Het staatshoofd spreekt dan in een Verenigde vergadering van de Staten-Generaal de troonrede uit. Daarin geeft de regering in algemene bewoordingen aan wat het regeringsbeleid zal zijn voor het komende jaar. Tegelijkertijd wordt op die dag de miljoenennota en de rijksbegroting voor het volgende jaar gepresenteerd. Traditiegetrouw gaat de Koning in optocht per koets naar de Ridderzaal, waarbij het volk langs de route gelegenheid wordt gegeven het staatshoofd toe te juichen. On Budget Day the King will travel in the Glass Coach to the Royal Theatre in The Hague (owing to renovations of the Binnenhof), where the ministers, state secretaries, members of parliament and other guests are assembled, announcing the government’s main plans for the year ahead. Afterwards, the Minister of Finance gives the House of Representatives an overview of the cost of the plans announced in the Speech from the Throne. The Prime Minister drafts a provisional version of the Speech from the Throne based on input from the other ministers. He also discusses the text with the King before it is finalisedby the Cabinet. Besides members of the Royal House, the procession comprises officers of the Royal Household, mounted police, a band and various army units.
